Products & Sizing

Are Blundstone boots true to size?
Yes — Blundstones generally run true to NZ/Australian sizing. If you're between sizes, size up rather than down as the leather needs some break-in. The XFW (extra wide) fit is available for wider feet. When in doubt, come in-store to try a pair.
What's the difference between steel cap and composite toe safety boots?
Steel cap boots have a steel toecap — heavier, very strong, and traditional. Composite toe boots use fibreglass or carbon fibre — lighter, no cold transfer in freezing conditions, and won't set off metal detectors. Both meet AS/NZS 2210 safety standards. For most NZ worksites, composite is increasingly popular.
What does AS/NZS certified mean for PPE?
AS/NZS (Australian/New Zealand Standards) certification means the product has been independently tested and meets the relevant safety standard. For workwear: AS/NZS 4602 (hi-vis), AS/NZS 2210 (safety footwear), AS/NZS 1337 (eye protection), AS/NZS 2161 (hand protection). WorkSafe NZ requires PPE to meet these standards on regulated worksites.
What hi-vis do I need for a NZ construction site?
Most NZ construction sites require Day/Night (D/N) hi-vis — orange or yellow background with reflective tape. For roadside work or sites with traffic management, Class 2 D/N is typically required under AS/NZS 4602.1:2011. Check your site's traffic management plan and site health & safety rules for specifics.
What's the difference between BetaCraft and Stoney Creek?
Both are NZ/Kiwi outdoor brands. BetaCraft focuses on farm and worksite use — iso-940 Polartec fleece, waterproof jackets built for daily outdoor work in harsh conditions. Stoney Creek is more outdoor/hunting crossover — rugged, patterned (camouflage and hi-vis), popular with hunters and farmers. For pure worksite use, BetaCraft is the pick. For outdoor workers who also hunt or work in the bush, Stoney Creek is versatile.
Are gumboots or waterproof boots better for NZ farming?
Both have their place. Gumboots (safety or standard) are ideal for standing in water — dairy sheds, irrigation, flood conditions. Waterproof leather boots (like BetaCraft iso-940 or Blundstone 991) are better for walking in wet conditions where you won't be standing in water. Many Kiwi farmers keep both on hand.
Do you offer PPE for forestry and chainsaw work?
Yes — we stock Pfanner chainsaw protective trousers and boots (Class 1 and 2), Protos INTEGRAL helmets with integrated hearing and face protection, cut-resistant gloves, and chainsaw chaps. All AS/NZS and EN certified for forestry use.
