Safety boots in NZ must meet AS/NZS 2210.3, covering steel or composite toe protection, slip resistance, and where relevant, electrical hazard and penetration resistance ratings.

Steel cap or composite toe — which should I choose?

Steel cap boots offer maximum impact protection and suit construction and heavy industry. Composite toe boots are lighter, non-conductive (ideal near electrical hazards), and don't trigger metal detectors — popular with tradespeople and utility workers.

How long should safety boots last?

Quality safety boots typically last 12–24 months with regular site use. Replace sooner if the sole is worn, waterproofing has failed, or the toe protection is compromised.
